Solid Modeling
Solid modeling can be an important part of the mechanical engineering process. Solid models are created not just for part manufacturing,
but also for the determination of various extensive properties such as moments of inertia, volume, surface area, and the location of mass centers.
These properties must sometimes be known to solve design problems such as those involving stress analysis,
heat transfer, fluid flow, and modal (vibration) analysis. Solid models can also be combined to form assemblies where checks for
interference can be made, or where range of motion can be verified. Macek Power is highly experienced with the solid modeling of a wide range
of turbomachinery part types and geometries. For solid modeling, Macek Power uses SolidWorks CAD software, which allows for communication with most other CAD/CAM
software packages.

Reverse Engineering and Manufacturing Drawing Production
Macek Power is proficient with both AutoCAD and SolidWorks CAD software. Solid models, manufacturing drawings,
and schematics can be produced in accordance with applicable engineering drawing standards or customer specification.
Extensive mechanical design and reverse engineering experience make Macek Power a great choice for help with the replication or modification
of both new and worn parts. Reverse engineering can be conducted with traditional manual methods or with a coordinate measuring
machine (CMM) as necessary. Macek Power is available to conduct reverse engineering at your site as needed, and can produce large media
drawing plots (to size E) on company standard or client supplied title blocks. Contact
Macek Power to learn more about how it can help with your drafting and design needs.

Thermodynamic Performance Simulation
Macek Power uses both proprietary in-house and commercially available software for the thermodynamic simulation, performance prediction,
and application engineering of various types of turbomachienry. Similarly, heat balance simulations can be completed with either in-house
methods or commercially available software packages as appropriate. In the category of thermodynamic performance simulation,
Macek Power most commonly finds itself involved in steam turbine flow path analyses and power plant heat balance simulations.
Additionally, Macek Power often provides quick general input to the equipment buyer or end user on the feasibility of use of various other types
of machinery (or configurations) through thermodynamic evaluation.

Finite Element Analysis
Macek Power engineers use ALGOR Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software as required to support internal design efforts or to evaluate customer
specified designs and hardware. Knowledge of the ALGOR software, modeling methods, and results interpretation comes from both experience
and formal classroom training.
Contact Macek Power today for help with your FEA and design validation needs.

Rotordynamic Analysis
The dynamic response of rotor-bearing systems should be considered when designing (or redesigning) a machine train. Changes in rotational speed,
polar inertia, or coupling stiffness can result in significant changes in system response. Macek Power & Turbomachinery Engineering uses the
Advanced Rotating Machinery Dynamics (ARMD) software
to conduct both lateral and torsional rotordynamic analyses, and to aid in bearing design. The ARMD software (developed by RBTS, Inc.)
uses finite element methods to calculate bearing coefficients and the response of rotor-bearing systems.
Through both formal training and experience, Macek Power offers its customers a variety of rotordynamic evaluation services.
Some of these services include:
Lateral natural frequency and mode shape determination
Torsional natural frequency and mode shape determination
 Stability analysis
 Unbalance response analysis
 Bearing reaction force determination
Bearing film thickness and film temperature determination
 Calculation of bearing lubrication requirements
Through these capabilities, Macek Power can provide more complete design and engineering solutions to clients with turbomachinery application issues.
Contact Macek Power anytime to learn more about how your rotordynamic issues can be resolved.
